A. The San Francisco Municipal Railway, known locally as Muni, operates a comprehensive transit system that includes buses, trolley buses, a metro system, historic streetcars, and of course the world-famous cable cars. Cable car fares for adults 18-64 are $3 ( 7 a .m.-9 p.m. daily) $1 (all other times). Bus, streetcar, and metro fares are $1.25.
